Learn blues guitar like Dickey Betts

Exactly! The essence of Dickey Betts is not in learning note for note, but understanding his mindset when he chooses notes, and why he chooses to do certain things over different chord progressions while improvising. Anybody can play note for note.
you don’t make a good student if you think he’s just showing off. Its the major scale dude, what else do you want him to do for you?
generically you are in the neighborhood but you are missing the signature tunes note for note… fender has a an excellent SPOT ON tab for Ramblin Man lead riffs
John-It’s great to see a more technical video in this genre. I’ve always wanted to play this type of music, and now I can.
I checked out your complete list of available lessons, wow!
It looks like I’ve hit the motherload.
Thanks! SS
–Tone? Are you playing straight into the amp or are you
using a pedal? What’s your set up?
John – great videos and AWESOME SG tone.
Question re: the D major scale that you are playing here. Is it the placement where you go from 10th-12th fret on Low E, 9th-10th-12th on A, 9th-11th-12th on D and G, 10th-12th on B and 9th-10th on high E?
Great! The video sounds good. You’ve definitely been practicing.
Good luck with Jessica. Great song!
Thanks John!
Very timely as I have been studying Dickey’s technique lately – especially his tendency to use circular patterns in his soloing. Check out my posting of “Blue Sky” — I also plan on putting up the “Jessica” solo up soon which I learned from listening to the CD. Thanks as always for the tips!
I’ve been wanting to get that sound forever! Thanks!
