ive been thinking of buying a harmonica, but i have a few questions:
1. do wooden Hohner harmonicas leak air? some people said i should get a plastic one instead, but wood seems like it would be better. i just dont know.
2. what key is the best for blues? i thought A, but im not sure.
thanks to anyone who helps.

1- No. If it leaks air then it’s old, worn out or busted and needs replacing.
2 – If you playing cross harp with a band, it depends what key the band is playing in. If you are playing on your own, try a C harp and play cross harp in G.
1) The Hohner has a new model of it’s most popular harp. The Marine Band is now made in a deluxe model. Neil Young and Bob Dylan used a Hohner marine band.
2) As a guitarist and harmonica player, I like to play the Blues on the guitar in the key of A, and use a E harp in the second position, also called (cross harp).
1 no that’s a myth a wooden harmonica does not leak any air unless it’s broken in some way. I still prefer to stick to wood since I feel that it has more character and the sound is just a little better but that’s just me the only thing with wood is that it’s a little less hygienic specially if you have all of your friends trying to use it and requires that you clean it from time to time.
2 best key to begin with is a C it’s the most neutral key and it’s the key that most instructional books use. thus it’s the easiest to start with. just expand your collection from there on.
