Piedmont”? I never heard of this blues style. As for the four in your question, I would say either West Coast or Minneapolis. Memphis and Louisiana have strong blues roots.
Minneapolis definitely is not a blues style.
West Coast blues swings more, and bands usually have a horn section or piano.
Memphis blues have a long tradition, dating back to W C Handy’s “Memphis Blues”, in 1912. By the late 40′s, it was a musical hotbed, with BB King, Bobby Blue Bland, Howlin’ Wolf, Junior Parker, and Little Milton all competing for playing time.
Louisiana blues is influenced more by New Orleans than the Delta. One of it’s biggest hits was Guitar Slim’s “Things That I Used To Do” (1953) , which had a swampy raw-edged feel to it. The roster of Excello Records (and Excello’s quirky, atmospheric productions) helped define the sound of the region. Some artists included Guitar Slim, Lazy Lester, Arthur “Big Boy” Gunter, Slim Harpo, Katie Webster, Lonesome Sundown, Smiley Lewis, and Earl King.
